Asante Amen
ASANTE AMEN IN A NUTSHELL :-- “I believe I was born to sing the Most Highs’ praises and inspire people through sound”. In a nutshell this sentence describes the kind of artist Asante Amen – born Gavin Walters – is.
As a singer/songwriter he has penned many songs and has added harmonies to numerous others during his time in the music business. As a performer he has graced the stages of some of the more prestigious events in reggae music such as; Rebel Salute (JA), Irie Jamboree (USA), St. Mary Mi Come From (JA) and The Woodstock Reggae Festival (USA). He has performed in the United States of America, The Bahamas, Grenada and all across Jamaica; however this is just the beginning for Asante as he looks forward to his music carrying him to places and venues across the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and Africa.
Asante Amen has had the privilege of collaborating on tracks with artists such as Lutan Fyah and Jah Thundah as well as a host of other local and international reggae artists. He has also performed alongside Reggae greats such as Luciano, Tony Rebel, L.U.S.T, Queen Ifrica and Beenie Man to name a few. For Asante, music speaks to him in a very special way and so far, by all accounts, his singles releases to date have been well received by reggae fans across the world.
Asante is now in full gear for 2011 as he has enjoyed major rotation across the USA, the Netherlands, mainland Europe and many Isles across the Caribbean this year for two of his latest singles, WIPE YOUR TEARS and BEATING. He has also enjoyed a one month stay on the KDVS 90.3 FM Reggae/African Top 25 album chart in California, USA earlier this year for the EP release of his debut underground album OVER THE YEARS: The Underground Project. The full album is to be released this summer and is expected to raise the platform of this promising reggae crusader by at least 5 more notches.
For Asante Amen 2011 and beyond is looking bright and with his record company High Priest Records behind him, the musical journey is expected to grow from strength to strength.
